Full-Time Building Substitute Teacher - Elementary

Milton Hershey School (MHS) is
currently seeking a Full-time Building Substitute Teacher for the Elementary
School (grades Pre-K ?? 4).┬  This position would begin in the 2018-19
school year is a salaried position with a benefits package. ┬ ┬ 


The Building Sub will be assigned
to classrooms in which teachers are absent.┬  The assignments will be in
any of the classrooms in the Elementary School and could potentially be asked
to substitute in the Middle School or High School.┬  The Building Sub could
be assigned to fill in any number of other needs in the School and demonstrate
a high degree of versatility and flexibility. ┬  The Building Sub must be
comfortable covering classrooms┬ in all grades and subject areas, covering
multiple┬ classes in the same day, and be willing to assist with a variety
of other responsibilities throughout┬ the school day.┬ ┬

The Building Subs are responsible
for┬ maintaining high quality education and activities in the classrooms
they cover to ensure continued academic rigor, despite the change of
personnel.┬  In most cases, the Building Sub will utilize the lesson plans
of the teacher of that classroom; however, for longer term assignments the
Building Sub will develop lesson plans and assessments to ensure students???
instruction remains consistent.┬  Lessons are to be based upon PA Common
Core Standards┬ while┬ creating a classroom environment which
is┬ engaging, meaningful, rigorous and developmentally appropriate.┬ 
Assessments are to be formative and summative and lend themselves to differentiated
instruction, as well as accommodate individual student and whole group needs.

MHS teachers collaborate with
fellow faculty and other MHS staff to ensure a whole child approach is taken to
student development.┬  MHS teachers are responsible for supporting School
initiatives such as social & emotional learning and health &
wellness.┬  Teachers are also required to schedule and complete an
additional duty to their teaching schedules.┬

MHS provides a home and education
for 2,000 Pre-K through 12th grade students from lower income
backgrounds.┬  The School strives to provide small class sizes (average of
1/15 - 18) to ensure students have the attention and instructional support to
excel academically and in life.┬  MHS teachers are in a unique role to
teach, mentor, motivate and inspire student to fully leverage the opportunities
available to them so they can fully reach their potential, both in academics
and in life.┬  ┬

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor???s degree in Education.

  • PA (or other state) Teacher
    Certification in Elementary School.┬  Special Education certification a
    plus.

  • Demonstrated successful
    instructional experience with diverse students from low income preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to
    successfully adapt to a wide variety of classroom settings successfully.

  • Demonstrated success in creating
    engaging, relevant, and meaningful lessons.

  • Demonstrated success utilizing
    data to drive instruction and differentiate instruction.

  • Demonstrated skills in applying
    current trends in education including utilizing technology.┬ 

  • Demonstrated skills in utilizing
    various teaching strategies to increase student capabilities including critical
    thinking and life skills.┬ 

  • Co-teaching skills are
    preferred.┬  Flexibility, teamwork and skills in collaboration are required.┬  ┬ 

  • Excellent organizational and
    multi-tasking skills are also required.┬ 

  • Must demonstrate a high degree of
    integrity as all MHS staff are considered role models for students.┬ 

  • MHS desires candidates who are
    ???all in??? and are interested in actively engaging with students beyond the
    classroom in a variety of extra-curricular opportunities.┬

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
