SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Direct and control activities relating to database management, planning, development, security, and maintenance. Develop database models, definitions, and standards for administering databases on one or more technology platforms. Coordinate projects to ensure that the projects and associated deliverables are completed in a timely manner. Design and coordinate the implementation of database structures for one or more platforms. Take an active role in the integrity, performance, tuning, backup and recovery techniques and procedures. Assist technical support staff and vendors with installations, upgrades, or problems relating to the database environment. Work at the highest level of all phases of client/server database management. Lead enterprise database projects. The BI Information Architect will follow the below reporting structure:
Database Administrator >> BI Manager >> EIM Director This role will be responsible and have the authority to make standards and decisions on the following tasks Develop standards and documentation around architecture including database administration and security Changes to tables, views, and other database objects through the defined change process Install, configure, and manage databases through the defined change process Meet with customers on assigned projects, incidents, and changes Propose changes and tools to database deployment and administration Provide query optimizations, changes, and enhancements as needed This role will need higher approval for the following tasks:
Presenting PHI or other sensitive data to the data warehouse environment Architecture changes that impact the entire organization/IT Resources are needed from another area in IT Approval of vendor contact or other binding other binding obligation with external entities Allocation of capitol and operational resources Communication Handle and communicate confidential and sensitive information (e.g., personnel actions; proprietary information). Coordinate and collaborate with management staff of other departments on a regular (e.g., weekly) basis. These communications typically concern education, planning, and problem resolution. Communicate with vendors and other external entities, serving as the lead representative for IRT. Less frequently, present technical discussions (e.g., white papers, planning documents) within the IRT Department. In the role of project leader for enterprise projects, conduct the full range of project team communications (e.g., with stakeholders; within the project team; across areas within IRT). Occasionally, prepare documents and deliver presentations for enterprise level review, including presentation to organizational management forums. Educate and mentor less senior employees. Complexity Understands enterprise IT capabilities, enterprise performance metrics, enterprise business/IT strategies, and enterprise business processes at a level sufficient to propose and manage technology standards that significantly impact service delivery and business process spanning the enterprise or multiple departments Has a solid understanding of industry IT architecture standards, the role of installed IT systems, and the inter-relationship of applications, data, and infrastructure systems Has a solid understanding of transactional database and Data Warehousing best practices, current trends and capabilities on the horizon that could be beneficial to PSH. Can manage projects with resources that span multiple:
technology domains, costs centers, managers, and departments Develops and reviews of RFI/RFPs and coordinates the review of vendor contracts Is knowledgeable in current and anticipated policies, practices, trends, and information with the IT and healthcare industries. Is knowledgeable about how the organization functions, and understands the origin and reasoning behind key politics, practices, and procedures. Impact This position provides operational support, architecture, and management for the databases across the institution. The role of the team is to ensure high availability of database services to the organization as well as continuing to advance the database capabilities. An error in this position could lead result in system downtime, security issues, productivity loss as well as operational impacts across the organization.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Database AdministrationEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
